Weekly Letter: Pep Rally and Music Recital This Week!

I pray your week is going well. I want to give a big shout-out to our students who participated in the Christmas play! They did such a wonderful job. It is such a blessing to see the many talents our students have been blessed with.This Friday, we will be having a Christmas Music Recital at 9:30 AM. We invite everyone to come celebrate the Christmas season with music performed by our talented RCA students.

Tribe Pep Rally
Tomorrow we will be hosting a pep rally for the Tribe Warriors Basketball Team. RCA has several students who compete for Tribe, and we also have a couple of coaches on staff as well! Everyone is invited. The pep rally will begin at 2:30 PM.
Students may wear jeans tomorrow if they are wearing blue, white, or gold (or yellow) in support of Tribe.

Tuition Payments
We would like to extend a sincere thank you to all families who are current on their tuition payments. Your faithfulness and support are truly appreciated.
For families who may be behind, we kindly ask that you please bring your tuition payments up to date as soon as possible. Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.

Music Lessons at RCA

Happy Monday!
We are excited to share that we found a music teacher! If you are interested in signing up your child for music lessons (vocal, piano, ukulele), please fill out the ONLINE FORM, and someone will contact you. Lessons are for students 5 years old and older. The classes are $20 per class, with a one-time $25 signup fee. For more information, please see the ONLINE FORM. The deadline to sign up for lessons is Friday, February 14.
Here is a message from Mrs. Kerrie:
Thank you for the opportunity to teach music lessons at RCA.
In the past, before retiring from Child Protective Services, I have had much experience in communicating with children and having a good rapport with them. I have also had experience in preparing a lesson plan and teaching classes by following the lesson plan when teaching the DARE program in the Roby, TX, and Rotan, TX School Districts.
I have lived in or around the Sweetwater, TX area all of my life, moving to Bastrop, TX in September 2019. I have become familiar with the area and the people of the area.
I was a member of the Sweetwater Lions Club, the Broadway Baptist Church where I played the organ for 11 years, and the Sweetwater Municipal Band. I currently am a member of the Hills Prairie Baptist Church where I serve as the pianist. I have also served on various Board of Directors, including The Child Advocacy Center in Sweetwater, TX, The Rape Crisis Center, and The Noah Project In Snyder, TX.
I was raised in the Fundamental Baptist Church in Sweetwater, TX, (now Broadway Baptist). I became a Christian in 1968 when I was ten years old. I followed the Lord's commandment of immersion baptism & joined Fundamental Baptist a week later.
I have served the Lord in many different capacities since then, mostly in the music ministries.

We are in the final countdown to school being out. The list of important upcoming dates is below. Please make sure you are planning to come to the Awards Assembly. Following the assembly, we have a fun afternoon planned for everyone—all are welcome to join. We will have waterslides, food, and snow cones. Please make sure students bring appropriate swimwear (if girls are wearing a 2-piece swimsuit, please have them wear a t-shirt over it), a towel, and sunscreen.

Music Recital
We are excited to see and hear what students have been learning in their music classes. You don't want to miss it! Students will be playing the drums, piano, and some will be singing. We hope to see you tomorrow at 10:00 am!!

Yearbook Order
The deadline for yearbooks for the 2023-2024 school year has been extended to this Friday, May 10. If you need an order form, please let us know and one will be sent home with your child.

Merit Dollar Store
All year long students have earned Merit Money by working hard and earning good grades. This Thursday, at 1:00 pm, students (LC1-5) will be cashing in their money for toys and prizes. If any parents would like to volunteer and help students select their toys and prizes, please let us know. We can use one or two volunteers.

VBS 2024
One of the best weeks of Summer is coming soon! VBS is June 17-21. Registration will open soon. Please be sure to check our RBC website for more information. VBS if free and is for all students who have completed Pre-K (4 year olds) through 6th grade.

May is Almost Here! :)

May is near! I believe this is the busiest month for our students and staff. Students are trying to complete all their required work and we have lots of end-of-year activities.

Speaking of activities, here is a round-up of everything coming up:

The last day of school for all students is May 17. Please note that students in LC 5, 6, or 7 who still need to test in any Paces will be asked to come to school May 20-24. Your child’s teacher will let you know if your student needs to come to school any of these days.

Teacher Appreciation
Next week is Teacher Appreciation Week. This is a time set aside to show love to our teachers, aides, and staff. We previously sent out contact info for Samantha Medina, to coordinate the teacher gift list for anyone wishing to contribute. We now have a signup here that Samantha put together, to make it easier to see what is available.

RCA AWARDS CEREMONY & COOKOUT
We are excited to share with you the accomplishments the students have made this year. We invite you to join us on May 17, at 10:00 am, for our 2023-2024 RCA Awards Ceremony. After the ceremony, we invite everyone to hang out for a fun afternoon outside. We will have several BIG water slides for the kids to enjoy and food will be provided for everyone. The calendar reads that school will release at noon, but we plan on being here till 3:00 pm with you and your kiddos. Parents, please plan on staying here while your kids are enjoying the afternoon. You are free to take your child home before 3:00 pm if you choose. The afternoon celebration will take place of our end-of-year field trip.
