I hope that you had a wonderful Presidents Day—and enjoyed the long weekend.


This is the 5th week of the 3rd quarter and this week your child’s Mid-quarter Progress Report will be sent home in the Parent Envelope. Please look it over carefully and make sure that if your child is on level, he/she is on schedule to complete at least 3 grades in each subject for this quarter. If your child is behind and not on level, he/she should be on schedule to complete more than 4 Paces in any subject in which they are behind. (All grades after 1/20/23 are for this quarter). We want each child to achieve Privilege Status for the quarter. Please discuss with your child’s teacher any concerns or questions you might have.

Very soon, we will be opening pre-registration for all returning students. To guarantee your child will have a spot next year at RCA, you will need to respond quickly when re-enrollment opens. Watch for more information coming soon!


Student Tardies     School starts at 8:20 am. If your child is not at their class table by 8:20 am, they will be counted as tardy. Students who arrive after 8:20 am must report to the Fellowship Hall, and not hang out in the restrooms or hallways during our morning exercises. The exterior doors automatically lock at 8:25 am, students who show up after this time will need to be signed in by a parent or guardian. If you have any questions or concerns about this, please give me a call or stop by the office so we can discuss it. 


Solar Eclipse of April 8, 2024     A solar eclipse occurs when the moon passes between the Earth and the Sun, masking the image of the Sun from the viewers on Earth. We wish for families to experience the Solar Eclipse together so RCA is giving students the day off. This day off is not on the school calendar.


FUNDRAISER UPDATES
THE FUNDRAISER IS (ALMOST) HERE: The BBQ Dinner and Auction is coming up NEXT Saturday—March 2!! Excitement is in the air as we are getting very close! It is IMPORTANT that we have your help and participation—so, PLEASE! PLEASE! Donate and solicit items for the auction, and keep selling those BBQ dinner tickets.

We have a list of all large groups and get those orders ready in advance. Live Auction Items: We have some nice vacation, hunting, and sporting event packages for the auction, but we could use some items like furniture, BBQ pits, kitchenware, fire pits, home decor, and things of that nature. Please continue to reach out to family, friends, and businesses for donations for the Live Auction. If you have an item that needs to be picked up, please let us know so we can make arrangements to have it delivered to RCA.

Happy Monday! This is the 4th week of the 3rd quarter, and the last week before progress reports go home for Learning Centers 3 – 7.
Valentine’s Day    The class Valentine’s parties are Wednesday, at 2:00 pm. All students may wear jeans Wednesday, Feb. 14, with a Valentine’s t-shirt, or a red/pink shirt or polo.

THE BBQ FUNDRAISER IS JUST 3 WEEKS AWAY!

Here are a couple of fundraiser announcements:

Live Auction Items Needed:  Parents, as mentioned a few weeks ago, we need each RCA family to donate an item(s) for the Live Auction. Please let your child’s teacher know what you will be donating so we can start working on the Auction Item List. 

Class Baskets:  The teachers would love to have all the items/money turned in for their class baskets by the middle of next week, so they can have them put together! Thank you so much to everyone who has already contributed.

Raffle Tickets    Raffle tickets are available! Any student who sells at least $100 worth of raffle tickets will get to wear jeans/PE clothes for one week.

Remember that this Friday is Early Release at 2:00 pm, and we have no school on Monday, Feb. 19th for President’s Day.

I’m almost convinced Texas only has 2 seasons, summer and winter. I must say it sure is nice having some cooler weather. 
Today is the beginning of Week 9 and report cards will be sent out next Thursday. Please get with your child to ensure they are on target to complete their projection goals. If you have any questions please reach out to your child’s teacher. 
Christmas in October report - We had a great time! Everyone seemed to have fun playing the Christmas-themed games, playing outside, eating the nachos and hotdogs, and we had a special appearance from the Dan Band! Didn’t the band do a great job?!

I want to give a big THANK YOU, to everyone who had a part in decorating, volunteering at the game stations, serving food, and most importantly those who donated toys. Because of your generosity, we will be able to bless many families for Christmas. 
Veterans Chapel Service - We are still looking for Veterans who would like to speak at Chapel on Wednesday, November 8. If you would like to speak to the kids or know someone interested, please let your child’s teacher know so we can contact them. 
Field Trips - Your child’s teacher will be contacting you soon to share field trip information, for those who met their requirements during the 1st nine weeks. 
Thanksgiving Can Food Drive - On November 1, we will start collecting canned food and non-perishable food items for the RBC Food Pantry. The RBC Food Pantry serves the community with groceries twice a month and during the holiday seasons, they see an increase in families needing assistance. To encourage the kids to bring food items we will have a pizza party for the class that collects the most food.  
Christmas Play at RBC - Last year the kids did a fabulous job putting on the Christmas play and many students regretted not getting involved. As crazy as it might seem, Christmas is right around the corner! Below you will find a link to sign up your child for the Christmas play. This year Mr. Dan and Mrs. Elaine will be heading this up. Is everyone enjoying the cooler weather? It’s finally feeling like Fall! I hope everyone had a good weekend and spent some time outside. And let’s not forget the solar eclipse, I had several teenagers tell me it looked like an Instagram filter outside. Ha.

We are only 3 weeks away from the end of the 1st quarter. If you are not sure if your child is on target with their academic projection, please set up a time to visit with your child’s teacher. Our expectation is for every student to meet their daily, weekly, and quarterly goals.

PSAT- For the students taking the PSAT this Wednesday, please make sure they get a good night’s rest and eat a healthy breakfast in the morning.

Christmas in October– This is a toy drive, and we will be having a BATTLE OF THE CLASSES- friendly competition- to see who can bring in the most toys. (All toys should be new).

The prize for the Upper Learning Centers is 2 days of no school uniform and the prize for the Lower Learning Centers is a popcorn and movie day.

WE CAN USE MORE VOLUNTEERS, PLEASE CONSIDER HELPING.

SPIRIT WEEK!- Next week is Spirit Week at RCA! This week is fun and exciting, building up to the Pep Rally and Homecoming game for the Tribe Warriors 6-man football team. RCA has several students who play for Tribe Athletics and we want to show them our support. The theme days for next week are as follows:

Monday- Favorite Vacation Day

ex. Tourist, Hawaiian, camping, skiing, etc.

Tuesday- Mismatch Day

Wednesday- All About Christmas

Thursday- Rep Your Team Day

*College or professional sports fan gear

Friday- Tribe Warrior Day

Veterans Day Chapel Service- If you or someone you know is a Veteran and would like to speak to our 3rd-12th graders during chapel, we invite them to fill out the form in the link below and share their interest. This special Chapel Service will be held on November 8th, at 10:30 AM.
